LI10: 手三里 [shǒu sān lǐ] Arm Three Li

里 [lǐ] ward (as in a city) a measure of distance equal to approximaterly one third of a mile.

The name of this point is closely related to that of ST-36, Leg Three Li and both are on yang ming channels located just below the joint (elbow and knee, respectively, for hand and foot yang ming). Read more about these points here

Location【部位 bù wèi】:

On the posterolateral aspect of the forearm, on the line connecting LI5 with LI11, 2 cun inferior to the cubital crease.

Needling【針法 zhēn fǎ】:

Perpendicular needling, 1-1.5 cum depth. 3-5 Moxa cons and 5-10 minutes of moxa stick

Action【功效 gōng xiào】:

Harmonize the stomach and disinhibiting the intestine [和胃利腸 Hé wèi lì cháng]

•Indication【主治 zhǔ zhì】:

Toothache, cheek swelling, shoulder pain, elbow contraction, stubborn arm numbness, hemiplegia, diarrhea, cholera, scrotum, scrofula, cold in the intestines, low back pain, fatigue, lose voice, stroke hemiplegia, elbow and arm pain, facial nerve palsy, peptic ulcer, gastritis, testicularitis.
