LU1 is the alarm point of the lung, where the qi of the organ is gathers. Lung qi collects at this point just as taxes are collected at the central treasury.
•Location 【部位 bù wèi】:
On the anterior thoracic region, at the same level as the first intercostal space, lateral to the infraclavicular fossa, 6 cun lateral to the anterior median line.
•Note 1: After locating LU2, LU 1 is located 1 cun inferior to LU2.
•Needling 【針法 zhēn fǎ】:
0.5-1 cun depth, transerve-oblique insertion at an angle of 45 degrees towards the lateral side of the body. 3-5 moxa coins or 10-15 minutes moxa stick.
•Action【功效 gōng xiào】:
clear diffusion of lung qi 【清宣肺氣 qīng xuān fèi qì】
Drain evil heat from the center of the chest 【瀉胸中熱邪 xiè xiōng zhōng rè xié】
•Indication 主治【zhǔ zhì】:
cough and wheezing, Asthma, bronchitis, pain in the shoulder and upper back, Heat in the lung, phlegm in the upper jiao, chest oppression, chest pain, aversion to cold, fever.
•Note: According to Dr. Wang Ju-Yi 【王居易】, this point can be used with an hand technique manipulation 揲法 [shé fǎ] for diagnosis (alarm point) and for treatment of the lung . Special effect to treat chest oppression, abdomen and diaphragm distention.
