The word marsh suggest that LU5 is the uniting-he and water point of the channel.
•Location【部位 bù wèi】:
On the anterior aspect of the elbow, at the cubital crease, in the depression lateral to the biceps brachii tendon.
Note: With the elbow flexed, LU5 is located at the cubital crease, between LI11 and PC3, separated from PC3 by the biceps brachii tendon.
•Needling【針法 zhēn fǎ】:
Needle 0.5 to 1 cun perpendicular. Be cautious with direct moxibustion, moxa stick or on needle for 10-15 minutes. In case of dark vein in the point area, blood-letting is recommended, especially in asthma.
•Action【功效 gōng xiào】:
Depurative downbearing of lung qi [肅降肺氣 sù jiàng fèi qi]
Enriching yin and moistening the lung [滋陰潤肺 zī yīn rùn fèi]
Drain fire and downbearing counterflow of qi (瀉火降逆 xiè huó jiàng nì]
•Indication 主治【zhǔ zhì】:
Cough, wheezing, dyspnea, hemoptysis, vomiting, fullness and chest pain, tuberculosis, heartache, stomach pain, abdominal distension, colic, constipation, epistaxis, larynx, dry tongue, chills , cramps, hot flashes and thirst, epilepsy, malaria, low back pain, shoulder and spinal pain, wind arthralgia, arm can not reach the shoulder, elbow and arm pain, common cold, sore throat, tonsillitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, whooping cough, pneumonia, pleurisy, intercostal neuralgia, erysipelas, fetal position, measles, hypertension.
•Point pair 配穴 [pèi xué] :
LU5-SP9: According to Dr. Wang Ju-Yi [王居易] this point pair regulate reverse counerflow, raise clear qi in the tai yin channel and transform dampness. Commonly used for varied conditions, few examples can be abdominal fullness, atopic dermatitis.
