GB41:足臨泣 [zú lín qì] Foot governor of tears

足 [zú] : foot

臨 [lín] : to overlook, to face toward

泣 [qì] : tears, to weep

From GB41 area, a branch of the gallbladder channel leaves the main channel to connect with the liver channel (at LV1). In TCM, the liver opens into the eyes, and many eye disorders (not all) are assosiated with the LV. this connection, as well as the fact that GB channel originates at the outer edge of the eye, enables the point to treat eye disorders such as pain in the outer canthus, dry eyes and dizziness.

Location【部位 bù wèi】:

On the dorsum of the foot, distal to the junction of the bases of the fourth and fifth metatarsal bones, in the depression lateral to the fifth extensor digitorum longus tendon.

Needling【針法 zhēn fǎ】:

Needle 0.5-1 cun perpendicular. 3-5 Moxa cons and 10-15 minutes of moxa stick

Action【功效 gōng xiào】:

Clear the head and eyes [清頭目 qīng tóu mù]

Expel wind and drain fire [祛風瀉火 qū fēng xiè huó]

Benefit the chest and hypochondrium area [利胸脅 lī xiōng xiè]

•Indication【主治 zhǔ zhì】:

Chest pain, Fullness of the chest, neck and axillary lymph node tuberculosis, dizziness, back head pain, body pain, calf and foot swelling, quarter rib pain, irregular menstruation, breast carbuncle.
