HT4: 靈道 [líng dào] Spirit pathway

Name【名稱 mīng chéng】:

靈 [líng] spirit

道 [dào] pathway

The qi at jing-river points moves quickly and 道 [dào] pathway is a reference to this nature. 靈 [líng] spirit is related to the heart, which stores the spirit.

Location【部位 bù wèi】:

On the anteromedial aspect of the forearm, just radial to the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon, 1.5 cun proximal to the palmar wrist crease.

Needling【針法 zhēn fǎ】:

Needle 0.3-0.5 cun perpendicular. 1-3 Moxa cons and 3-5 minutes of moxa stick

Action【功效 gōng xiào】:

Peace the heart [寧心 níng xīn] calm the spirit [安神 ān shén]

•Indication【主治 zhǔ zhì】:

heartache, irritability, violent and unspeakable, elbow and arm pain, elbow spasm, lameness, grief and fear, hysteria, atrial fibrillation, heart palpitations.

Note: According to Dr. Wang Ju-Yi [王居易] the heart channel is more associate to heart conductivity, therefore this point can treat arrhythmia and heart palpitation while PC4, the xi-cleft point of the hand jue yin, due to its association with blood, and therefore myocardium muscle diseases. at this point we can find palpable changes in cases of arrhythmia and heart palpitation . Thus, its important to palpate both hand jue yin and hand shao yin channels in order to determine which channel is abnormal in case of heart diseases.
