郄 [xī] : cleft
HT6 is the cleft-xi point [郄 xī] of the shao yin [陰 yīn] heart channel and thus called yin-xi
•Location【部位 bù wèi】:
On the anteromedial aspect of the forearm, radial to the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon, 0.5 cun proximal to the palmar wrist crease.
Note 1: 0.5 cun proximal to HT7, at the same level as the distal border of the head of the ulna.
•Needling【針法 zhēn fǎ】:
Needle 0.3-0.5 cun perpendicular. 1-3 Moxa cons and 3-5 minutes of moxa stick.
•Action【功效 gōng xiào】:
Clear heart fire [清心火 qīng xīn huó]
Peace the spirit and will [寧神志 níng shén zhì]
Constraining sweat and securing the exterior [斂汗固表 liǎn hàn gù biǎo]
•Indication【主治 zhǔ zhì】:
headache, dizziness, heartache, palpitations, chills, epistaxis, vomiting blood, throat numbness, night sweats, bone steaming in children, aphonia, cholera, chest fullness, cough.
•Point pair 【配穴 pèi xué] :
HT6-KD7: this point pair is mainly used in cases of vacuity, especially heart and KD yin, which can lead to abnormal sweating such as night sweating.
