third space refers to this point being the third point of the channel and as well refers to the anatomical location of this point, which is at the depression, proximal to the head of the second metacarpal bone.
•Location【部位 bù wèi】:
On the dorsum of the hand, in the depression radial and proximal to the second metacarpophalangeal joint.
•Needling【針法 zhēn fǎ】:
When the hand is in whist position, either 0.5-1 cun perpendicular to the second metacarpophalangeal joint or transverse towards LI4.
•Action【功效 gōng xiào】:
Drain heat and relief the throat [泄熱利咽 xiè rè lì yàn]
Regulate the fu organ and ease constipation [調腑通便 tiào fǔ tōng biàn]
•Indication【主治 zhǔ zhì】:
Eye pain, lower teeth pain, sore throat, swelling of the throat , throat congestion, fever, oral and maxillofacial disorders, trigeminal neuralgia, insomnia, redness and swelling of the back of the fingers and hands, shoulder pain, dry lips and mouth, body heat, wheezing, constipation, numbness of fingers, fever with no sweat.
