LU7:列缺 [liè quē] Broken Sequence

Name【名稱 mīng chéng】:

列 [liè] : sequence, to arrange to place

缺 [quē] : imperfect incomplete, deficient, vacant

•Alternative name:

童玄 [tōng xuán] child mystery

At LU-7 the channel splits to join the large intestine channel at LI-4. This splitting can be seen as a break in the sequence. As well the alternative name of this point is a reminder about the effects of LU7 in treating nocturnal enuresis.

Location【部位 bù wèi】:

On the radial aspect of the forearm, between the tendons of the abductor pollicis longus and the extensor pollicis brevis muscles, in the groove for the abductor pollicis longus tendon, 1.5 cun superior to the palmar wrist crease.

Needling【針法 zhēn fǎ】:

Needle obliquely or horizontally 0.3 to 0.5 cun toward the elbow or wrist.

Dr. Wang Ju-Yi (王局易) needle this point in the crevice of this channel and not towards the hand yang ming LI channel.

Action【功效 gōng xiào】:

Diffuse the lung and relief asthma [宣肺平喘 xuān fèi píng chuān]

Disinhibiting water and regulate the intestine [利水調腸 lì shuǐ tiào chāng]

•Indication 主治【zhǔ zhì】:

Classical: coughing and phlegm, coughing up saliva, pus and blood, wheezing, chest and diaphragm closure pain, choking, heart and abdomen pain, abdominal distension, diarrhea, fecal occlusion, anal prolapse in children, hemorrhoids itching pain, blood leakage, fever without sweat, sputum drinking, edema, Diabetes, malaria, phlegm, congestion in the mouth, convulsions in children, hot and painful urination, blood in the urine, obstruction of urination, number of urination, migraine headache, nasal cavity, toothache, sore throat, Severe head pain, chest and back chills, wind pain, wind numbness, crooked mouth, hemiplegia, limbs, tetany, elbow and arm pain, palm heat, wrist strain, wrist weakness, mastoid swelling and pain, fetal death Undressing, low back pain after childbirth.
Modern: Diabetes, hematuria, proteinuria, rhinitis, laryngitis, neuropathic headache, trigeminal neuralgia, closed teeth, hoarseness, urticaria, stiff neck, stenosed tenosynovitis of the radius base stem, and wrist soft tissue injury.
